NO CALL for EM. and you only work like half the month for full time pay. Aug 11, 2017 · Combined IM/anesthesia is a dumb idea and a waste of time. It may improve your knowledge, but it does not improve your chances of getting a job. It is impractical. You will end up practicing one or the other. If you try to be both a PCP and an anesthesiologist, you will just end up being mediocre at both.

Take a look at the last sentance, "By the end of the rotation, the student should be able to independently (under supervision) provide anesthesia for uncomplicated surgical procedures."
